Why can't road crews keep up with pot hole repairs?

ROCK HILL, SC (WIS) - No matter where you drive in the Charlotte region, you undoubtedly run across quite a few pot holes on the roads and streets in your neighborhood.

In Rock Hill, crews with the city's Public Works Department are running ragged trying to repair all of the holes that have been reported.

The recent series of bad weather has caused lots of pot holes to form, and in Rock Hill alone, more than 100 have been reported within the last week. Road crews say they simply can't keep up.

An official with the Public Works Department said his workers can't pave over the holes with asphalt if the weather is really cold outside.

So, for now, the road crews are basically just filling the holes with gravel and they will have to come back later this spring to lay down asphalt when it warms up.

York County DOT officials say they have received quite a few calls concerning the gaping holes throughout the county.
