NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) - Two more suspects are in jail for the murder of two men outside a Newberry County convenience store during a drug deal gone wrong, authorities said Tuesday.

Sheriff Lee Foster said Michael Anton Foster, 21, of Newberry, was taken into custody over the weekend, and Victor Maurice Carter, 21, of Blair, was arrested Monday afternoon. Both men are charged with murder and armed robbery.

The third suspect in the killings last Thursday outside Horne's General Store in Chappells, Zachary Travorous Bookman, was arrested on Friday. Bookman is also charged with armed robbery and murder.

Sheriff Foster said the three men planned to rob Donald Springs, Jr. and Ralph Harp, who authorities said intended to buy some marijuana. However, something went wrong during the deal, and Sheriff Foster said the three men started shooting.

Investigators say they are "fairly convinced" they know who fired the deadly shots, however no information related to the shooter(s), the number of weapons involved, or any specific crime scene information will be released prior to trial.

Foster said that regardless of who actually fired the shots, all three men are responsible for the deaths because of their participation prior to, during, and after the killings.

Sheriff Foster said that investigators feel that they have all the suspects responsible for the shooting in custody; however, he said more arrests are expected for those who assisted the suspects in their attempt to elude law enforcement.

Both men were being held at the Newberry County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
