CHARLESTON, SC (WIS) - Number eight on our list is actually about 150 years in the making, but it came to a climax over the summer of 2000. That's when the Confederate sub Hunley came home to a hero's welcome.
WIS took viewers along as thousands flocked to the Cooper River to see the Hunley's final voyage.
The Hunley is currently preserved in North Charleston.
Tours are offered on the weekends.
