Recipe from Bonnetta Caraway of North Vernon, Ind.
Total Time: 1-1/2
1lb ground beef 1/2 lb sausage 2 cup instant oats, (uncooked)may substitute cracker crumbs 3/4 cup sweet pickle relish 2 cans cream of mushroom soup 2 small cans mushroom pieces 1 small onion (chopped small) 1 beaten egg salt and pepper to taste 1t seasoned salt 1 cup milk (for richer gravy, I use 1 can evaporated milk)
1. Mix all ingredients very well together, saving 1 small can of mushroom pieces, 1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1 cup milk. Place in a 10"x12" casserole pan, shaping it into a compact oval.
2. Bake in 350 degrees until meat is to desired doneness inside (approx. 1 to 1 1/2 hours.)
3. Top with other can cream of mushroom soup mixed with 1 cup milk and 1 small can of mushroom pieces and pour over meatloaf after draining the grease off the meat, and bake about 10 more minutes or until the gravy bubbles.
4. Remove from the oven and let set for 10 minutes before slicing to serve. Serve with whipped potatoes (to put gravy over) and other vegetables you desire.
