CAYCE, SC (WIS) - It's been more than two years since Britton Rawls was raped while walking down the road in Cayce, but the man accused of the crime was caught.

Today, Britton and her family can laugh, but in the days after she was victimized, life was anything but funny.

"She took a beating, he tried to kill her three or four times. He spent an hour trying to murder her," said Ozzie Rawls, Britton's father.

Rawls was raped while taking a walk after work. She was beaten and left in the woods, kicking off a search for the man who did it.

First, there was a sketch, then there was an arrest: Hector Villafuerte admitted he did it and even asked for the death penalty.

The tip that cracked the case came into The Anonymous Crimestoppers Call Center. A program with a new supporter.

"I know it works, guy's got 80 years, wants the death penalty," said Ozzie. "It works.

As for Rawls and her dad, he says it may seem like nothing more than a call center, but for them, Crimestoppers was a life line.

"If you're tired of things going wrong, pick up the phone, make the anonymous call and get something done," said Ozzie.

Ozzie's right. If you have information about a crime, pick up the phone and call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text the word TIPSC and your message to CRIMES (274637).
