Hartsville man killed in car crash

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A crash in Hartsville Sunday evening killed a 48-year-old man after his car rolled over and hit a utility pole.

According to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee, Darrell Howard died from injuries sustained when his car crashed around 7:40 p.m. on Secondary Road 21 (also known as Society Avenue). The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported Howard's vehicle left the right side of the road into the ditch, overturned several times and struck a pole. Howard, who was alone in the vehicle, was ejected from the car.

Howard was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation at this time. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no other injuries.
