Horse #47 confiscated from Trexlers dies

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - There are new developments in the case involving the Trexler family horses.

The Humane Society says one of the horses has died. The horse was known as #47. He was one of the four dozen taken from the family farm owned and operated by Hazel Trexler and her sons James and Terry.

Because of ill treatment, officials say, the horses are suffering with health problems. Horse #47 was too weak to survive.

Many of you want to help the animals. You have a chance to do that at the Humane Society's "Mane Event" April 25th at The Millstone at Adams Pond off Bluff Road in Columbia. That's 5301 Bluff Road. The event is scheduled from 7pm to 11pm.

It is a cowboy cocktail party that will raise money to treat and house the horses until they can be adopted. Southern Way will be providing the food and there's also live bluegrass entertainment and a silent auction planned.

Call the Humane Society at 783-1267 or visit to buy tickets to The Mane Event. They cost $75 per person or $60 for the purchase of two or more.
