COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - An arrest has been made in a 1999 homicide.

Columbia police say they arrested 26-year-old Jerome "Buddy" Harper, Jr., after he turned himself in at police headquarters.

The former Keenan High School basketball star faces several charges in connection with the 1999 shooting death of Columbia motel owner Nick Thompson.

Early last month, Columbia police and the FBI identified Harper, 30-year-old Johnny Fletcher, Jr., and 31-year-old Jacques Hickman as suspects in the homicide.

Currently, Fletcher is incarcerated at the US Penitentiary-Lee, in Virginia, on an unrelated matter.

Columbia investigators are searching for the remaining suspect, Jacques Hickman.  Authorities say he is believed to be in the Columbia area.

Hickman and Harper are being charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery and accessory after the fact of murder.

Columbia police say if you have knowledge of his whereabouts, you can call the Columbia Police Department at (803) 545-3500 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 559-TIPS.
