LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - A Wednesday afternoon fire caused about $150,000 in damages to John's Artistic Iron Works in Lexington. The building is just outside downtown Lexington, off Highway 378.

Lexington County Director of Public Safety, Bruce E. Rucker, says the Park Road fire started in the shop area as one of the co-owners was cutting a piece of steel tubing with a chop saw. The resulting sparks started the blaze.

The call came in about 9:33am, and 20 firefighters from several stations responded. It took them more than two hours to bring the fire under control.

The fire caused about $125,000 in damages to the structure and about $25,000 in damages to the building's contents, Rucker said.

No one was injured.
