(San Francisco-AP) January 23, 2007 - Two people linked to the Black Panthers have been arrested in connection with the 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer.

Authorities in California say the suspects were members of the Black Liberation Army, a violent offshoot of the Black Panther Party.

The suspects have not been identified. A news conference is planned later Tuesday by San Francisco police.

Officer John Young was killed in an attack at a city police station. A civilian clerk was injured.

Three men were charged, but the case was dismissed when a judge found they had been tortured after being arrested in New Orleans.
