Lip surgery focuses on shape, not size

(National-NBC) June 15, 2006 - Luscious lips are the latest trend. Super smackers are back in the spotlight, and some are quite substantial!

But plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Schwartz is concerned about the results of some surgeries, "All the shape of the lip is gone. It's just a big swollen tube."

It started with Dr. Schwartz thumbing through fashion magazines. He noticed, "It's not about size, it's about shape."

So he created "Lip Sculpture," focusing on enhancing the shape of the lip, rather than the size. "That's what this procedure does, sculpts the lips into a prettier, sexier shape."

And that's what patient Poet Evans is looking for, "I like them, I just think they could be a little more defined up top and stand out a little bit more."

Dr. Schwartz uses restalyne to highlight key areas only to certain points of the lip to create shape.

Lip Sculpture starts at $600. The procedure takes about an hour and last six months. Results are best seen two to three days later.

Dr. Schwartz says, "Pretty lips make you look prettier. It's as simple as that."
