(Baghdad-AP) May 29, 2006 - Saddam Hussein's trial is done for the day in Baghdad.

Defense witnesses Monday testified that the former Iraqi leader was justified in a crackdown on Shiites after a 1982 assassination attempt.

In court on Monday, a defense lawyer complained that a man in the audience was a Shiite militia member and had threatened lawyers before. The lawyer said the man was was "pointing at" him and whispering to another person in the audience. Militants killed two defense lawyers soon after the trial began.

The judge ordered the man to leave court. After a series of witnesses for Saddam and his co-defendants, court adjourned until Tuesday.
