4 injured after two motorcycles collide in Lancaster Co.

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) - Four people are recovering after their motorcycles collided in Lancaster County Friday afternoon.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Highway 5 near U.S. 521.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2002 Harley Davidson and a 2005 Harley Davidson were involved in the accident. 

Both vehicles were driven by male subjects that were carrying female passengers.

Troopers say it appears one of the drivers lost control and hit the other motorcycle.  It is not known which motorcycle lost control.  All four riders were ejected.

According to a supervisor with Lancaster County EMS, three victims were critically injured and airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. 

A fourth patient who suffered serious injuries was taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating to determine what caused the accident.
