Semi-pro football team gears up for tryouts in MB

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Coaches and staff members of South Carolina's newest semi-pro football team will be gearing up for a second round of player tryouts on Jan. 30.

The Palmetto Havoc, based in Horry County, is a non-profit developmental football team aimed at developing football skill sets and helping players move to higher levels of professional football.

The team, according to its website, will be comprised of a variety of members from the state of South Carolina. Men ages 18 to 40 are encouraged to participate.

A second round of tryouts will be held at the Atlantic Center in Horry County on Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. Pre-registration begins at 11 a.m. followed by tryouts at 11:30 a.m. A $25 non-refundable fee is required to gear up and all players are required to wear cleats.

Coaches say they will be evaluating the attitude and individual skill sets of each player during the event.
