HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The wet roads proved dangerous in Horry County Wednesday night. Three people were killed in a crash on US-17 Bypass.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a car collided with a truck just before 10pm at the intersection of Palmetto Pointe Boulevard and the 17 Bypass.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick identifies the victims as 26-year-old Mark Sermon Jr. of Surfside Beach, his 9-year-old daughter Dajah Sermon, and his 6-year-old son Mark Sermon III.
The driver of the truck, Thomas Nelson Powell, 76, was not seriously injured. The driver of the car, 27-year-old Ipersha McCants, of Myrtle Beach, was transported to an area hospital. Her condition is unknown.
There is no word on what caused the accident, but the Highway Patrol is still investigating.
