WIS News 10 - Columbia, South Carolina | Mast General Store announces purchase of old Lourie's building

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - It's official: After several months of vacancy, the old Lourie's building on Columbia's Main Street has been bought by Mast General Store.
The company on Wednesday announced the purchase of the building on the 1600 block of Main Street. There have been rumors for months about the company's interest in the building, and in October Mast General Store confirmed the deal to WIS News 10.
"The Lourie's building has a long history of retail service to ... Main Street," a spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday. "We are excited by the momentum and revitalization efforts in the heart of Columbia."
Based out of Boone, North Carolina, Mast General Store sells outdoor gear as well as old-time home goods, toys and candy. The closest store to Columbia is currently in Greenville.
However, the company admits that even with the purchase, a Mast General Store in Columbia still isn't a completely done deal.
"This project is still being studied to determine its feasibility as a location for the Mast Store," the statement went on to say. "We are working diligently with others to develop a vibrant plan that will incorporate retail and residential occupancy that embodies the best this 100-year-old building has to offer."
