
SUMTER, SC (WIS) - A moped driver was found dead in Sumter County on Sunday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
A spokesperson says the man was found around 12:45 Sunday afternoon, but they are unsure of exactly when the accident happened.
They believe the accident could have happened overnight.
The victim was found off Deschamps Road near Highway 441 in Sumter County. He was not wearing a helmet.
According to Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock, 46-year-old Curtis Gaboury from Wedgefield died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators believe the accident happened when the moped ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
