CHAPIN, SC (WIS) - A man wanted for robbing a Chapin bank over two months ago was arrested in the Upstate Monday, according to officials.

Chief Police Chief Dave Rodgers says on May 15, Jason Lamar Storms robbed a Wachovia in Chapin, forcing several people into the bank's vault.

Rodgers tells WIS News 10 Storms was caught in the town of Lyman, near Spartanburg, when someone reported to police about a gold Taurus parked strangely.

"We got very lucky. Chief was going over there to get on this person about illegally parking," said Rodgers.

Lyman Police Chief Terry Richards went to check it out, and saw the car's tags were in the front seat and the hood was still warm.

Richards saw Storms walking out of the Lyman Wachovia, and Rodgers says Storms was getting ready to rob the bank.

Storms was detained, and police searched the car and found a gun and a Red Sox hat, which officials say he had worn in previous robberies.

"Everything that he gave us in that statement the day after our bank robbery was found in this car," said Rodgers.

Storms had a bag and gloves in his pocket, according to Rodgers, and was reportedly wearing the same outfit he wore to rob the Chapin Wachovia.

But police say Storms' trademark was the Boston hat and his penchant for Wachovia branches.

Rodgers says Storms also robbed five or six banks in Georgia. He is being held in the Upstate for warrants out of Chapin as well as Georgia.

Police also say that he has a Wachovia account.

Storms is being held in the Spartanburg Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond.

In the next few days, he'll be transported to Lexington County to face the charges related to the Chapin robbery.

After that, he'll be sent to Georgia where he'll face more robbery charges.
