Shooting over pit bull puppy leaves many asking questions

Posted: Updated:

BOWMAN, SC (WIS) - Bowman Police are still investigating the shooting of 23-year-old Byron Ziegler.

Authorities say Ziegler was shot outside of the IGA in Bowman, but what makes this case different from other shootings is that it was all over a pit bull puppy.

One woman said she heard the gun shots. She spoke to WIS News 10, but she wanted us to not show her face or reveal her identity.

"These boys, if they'll shoot somebody in broad daylight, why wouldn't they come after me?" the woman said as she explained her fears.

It was around 1:30pm on Tuesday when she heard two shots. Then she said a car with three men in it speed out of the store, make a right and take off.

Investigators say 21-year-old Kevin King was involved in the shooting. He turned himself in Thursday night.

Eighteen-year-old Terek Davis also turned himself in. Investigators say he was a passenger in the vehicle.

The driver hasn't been charged yet because he's been helping investigators with the case.

"I would have never thought this would have happened," Chief Allen Kinsey with the Bowman Police said.

Chief Kinsey still doesn't even know what the men were fighting about.
