Menika SmithCOLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A South Carolina Department of Corrections officer was arrested Tuesday morning for having sexual contact with an inmate, authorities say.
Corrections officers say 31-year-old Menika Smith of Oangeburg was arrested shortly before 11:00am Tuesday by SLED agents.
Smith is charged with one count of second degree sexual misconduct with an inmate.
The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by SLED and SCDC. A warrant says between December 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008 Smith was seen fondling and hugging the inmate.
Smith was booked at the Richland County Detention Center.
