WIS News 10 - Columbia, South Carolina | Jordan Sandler

Jordan Sandler

Jordan Sandler joined WIS in December 2007. A native of Mercer Island, WA (suburb of Seattle) Jordan is a proud graduate of the University of Oregon.  Go Ducks!

Right out of college, Jordan landed a job as the Weekend Sports Anchor at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana, but sports would take a back seat from day one. Jordan's first day on the job was the day Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Three weeks later Hurricane Rita ripped through Lake Charles. Jordan reported from the beach front just hours before the eye of the storm arrived. He bunkered down with his television crew in a hospital as the storm passed, keeping a 24/7 broadcast on the air. He slept on the floor of the television station for the next month, continuing to report on the long recovery.

Through this experience Jordan gained a new appreciation for the human spirit and the simple things in life we usually take for granted. The highlight of Jordan's career in Louisiana was standing on the 50-yard line during the emotional pre-game ceremony for the reopening of the Superdome in New Orleans on Monday Night Football.

Jordan's experience in front of an audience dates back to high school, where he was the lead role in his high school musical. In college he helped launch Oregon's first campus television show, Duck U. Jordan learned from some of the best in the business as an intern at Fox Sports Northwest in Seattle, before completing his internship experience at KVAL-TV in Eugene, OR.

Jordan enjoys film, travel, kayaking, hiking, rooting on the Ducks to victory, spending time with old friends and brand new friends.
