COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - When you think Thanksgiving, you probably think turkey. But there is more to each meal than just the bird, especially if you visit Dorothy Doyle.
Forget about the turkey.
"The turkey is good, but the bread goes along with that turkey," says Doyle.
At the Bojangles on Elmwood, it's all about the biscuits.
"I think mine are the best," she says.
She's been at it for the past 14 years, and every Thanksgiving you'll find her mixing, rolling, and stamping her favorite biscuits.
"It's like a part of me," she told WIS News 10.
"She's fast, she's dependable, she really enjoys her work," says coworker Raymond Conn.
And for Doyle, it's personal -- especially at Thanksgiving.
"I like helping people. We give to the needy every Thanksgiving," she said.
Thursday she and her store donated 330 biscuits to the homeless. And if you think that's a lot, don't ask her how many other biscuits she'll make.
"Oh Lord, I don't know how many," she said.
Her boss says close to 500. And Jacqueline McAlpine counts on them.
"I come here every year and get my biscuits," said McAlpine.
And for Doyle, that's the best compliment.
"I hope everybody have a real good Thanksgiving and be thankful for what they have," Doyle said.
And if you're still hungry after Thursday?
"I hope they come back and get some more," she says.
