Upstate band director accused of offering teen $5,000 for sex

SPARTANBURG, SC (WIS/WYFF) - Thomas Khoe, a 36-year-old music teacher and band director at Chapman High School, turned himself in to officials Tuesday.

Khoe is being held at the Spartanburg County jail. The Upstate band director is accused of touching four young girls, and offering one money for sex.

Deputies say the victims are 15 and 16-year-olds and one was offered $5,000 for sex. Khoe is also accused of making inappropriate comments while the teens were stretching or changing clothes.

Deputies say this happened at Chapman High School and during band camp. The sheriff tells us they have four alleged victims now, but others may come forward.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright says, "Anytime it's around the school area it's bad enough because dads and moms drop their daughters off and they don't anticipate them being bothered at school. That's supposed to be a safe haven and we're going to make sure it stays that way."

Khoe worked at Chapman High for seven years as the band director. We're told he also worked in Abbeville County. The principal of Chapman High says Khoe no longer works at the school.
