Telemundo come to the Midlands

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Midlands is getting a Spanish-language TV station.

Beginning on August 6, WNXG, channel 67, will air Telemundo programming.

The NBC-Universal owned network has talk shows, sports and soap operas.

It's coming to an area that has one of the country's fastest-growing Hispanic populations.

The census bureau says 135,000 Hispanics live in South Carolina, a 42 percent increase since 2000.

This Telemundo programming will also be on Time-Warner Cable, although a channel number has not been set.
