Ben Tanner, WIS Storm Alert Meteorologist on WIS News 10 Sunrise and WIS News 10 at Noon, joined WIS in October, 1998.
Ben's interest in weather started in 1979 when Hurricane David hit Savannah. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Ben received a bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Georgia. He also holds a Master of Geoscience Degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Before arriving in Columbia, Ben spent two years in a similar position with WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi. Tanner's passion and professionalism have been recognized, as he holds both the American Meteorological Society's Television Seal of Approval and National Weather Association's Seal of Approval. He is also a member of both organizations and a certified storm spotter.
Ben keeps busy working in and around his new house, enjoying the great outdoors and relaxing with his wife Dr. Andrea and children Kati and Benjamin.
