If you're going: Orangeburg debate details

ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - If you have a ticket and are planning to attend the "Path to the Presidency" Democratic Debate at SC State on Thursday, we have some information that will make the day a little easier for you.

Debate attendees can park at Mitchell Field on the SC State Campus, which is off Buckley Street near the Oliver Dawson Stadium. A parking pass will be required to enter the Mitchell Field lot. Parking passes will be distributed at the Debate Office on the SC State campus Monday, April 23 through the morning of Thursday, April 26 and at a tent near Mitchell Field on Thursday afternoon.

Ticket holders will be shuttled from the Mitchell lot to the MLK Theater. A debate ticket is required to ride the shuttle. Debate officials have been notified all ticket holders. Due to the small size of the theater, all tickets to the debate have already been distributed.

Debate tickets will be available for pickup - by debate attendees only - at the Will Call window in the Debate Office in Earle Hall on the SC State Campus starting at 2:00pm Monday, April 23.

Will Call in Earle Hall will be open Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 25 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. On Thursday, Will Call will be open at Earle Hall from 9:00am to 2:00pm and then will move to tents near Mitchell Field from 2:00pm to 5:30pm. A picture ID will be required to pick up tickets. Every ticket has a person assigned to it and tickets are non-transferable.

Doors to the Martin Luther King Jr. Theater open at 4:00pm. Ticket holders will go through security and are advised that phones, cameras, food, recording devices, electronic devices, weapons, signs, and bags are not allowed in the Debate Hall. The security process will take some time and ticket holders should plan accordingly.

All ticket holders must be in their seats by 6:00pm. There will be a brief debate pre-program featuring SC State students and local leaders from 5:45pm to 6:30pm. At 6:30pm, debate attendees will watch "The Nightly News with Brian Williams," which will emanate live from SC State's Campus. The debate will begin at 7:00pm and run until 8:30pm. The Debate can be seen live on WIS and WIStv.com.

Once the debate is completed, debate ticket holders will be shuttled back to Mitchell Field or the Community Viewing Party in the SHM gymnasium. Debate ticket stubs will be honored for admission into the Community Celebration.

Please call the Debate Office at 1-803-536-7220 from 9:00am to 5:00pm M-F with any questions or email debate@scdp.org.
