(Covington, La.-AP) January 16, 2007 - The parents of an embryo rescued from a flooded hospital in New Orleans during the weeks after Hurricane Katrina now have a new baby son.
Noah Markham was born Tuesday morning in a Louisiana hospital by Caesarean section.
In the aftermath of the hurricane, the lab director and a doctor led officers on a rescue mission in flat-bottomed boats to retrieve 14-hundred embryos, which were stored in canisters of liquid nitrogen.
Noah's mother says she had already decided on the name, provided the baby was a boy, "because God put it on his heart to build an ark."
Noah checked in at eight pounds, six-and-a-half ounces and doctors say he is in good shape.
