Jordan's king will push a different agenda from Bush during Amman talks

(Amman, Jordan-AP) November 28, 2006 - The king of Jordan apparently doesn't think Iraq is the most pressing crisis in the Middle East.

King Abdullah says he will urge President Bush to push for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The king and the leaders of Egypt and Saudi Arabia say that issue is more crucial to the region's stability.

They fear leaving the conflict unresolved will result in a growth of Islamic militancy in the Mideast.

Abdullah meets with Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Wednesday. Aides say he'll make no proposal on Iraq, but will stress finding ways to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
