
(Columbia-AP) November 27, 2006 - Senator Joe Biden said in Columbia Monday he wants to get tough with Mexico.
The Delaware Democrat told members of the Columbia Rotary Club he blames the country's corruption for drug problems and illegal immigration in the US.
Biden was in town Monday in his first postelection trip to this first-in-the-South presidential primary state. Biden has been lining up support for his presidential bid.
Biden says he favors tightening the US-Mexico border with fences.
Biden will be the next chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee when the Senate convenes in January.
