(Columbia-AP) November 17, 2006 - The State Election Commission has certified that Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer has been elected to a second term.
The commission also said Democrat Jim Rex won the state education superintendent post by defeating Republican Karen Floyd.
The commission had ordered a recount of those races earlier this week because the apparent margin of victory was less than one percent.
The recount showed Bauer defeating Democrat Robert Barber by 3,108 votes.
Barber has conceded. He says he'll concentrate on rebuilding his family restaurant in Charleston that was destroyed by fire last month.
The review also showed Rex defeated Floyd by 455 votes. Floyd's campaign says she won't comment until she decides whether to file a protest. She must do so by Wednesday.
