Texas man killed in I-26 crash

(Columbia) September 27, 2006 - A Texas man was killed early Tuesday morning when a tractor trailer overturned on his car.

The fatal accident on I-26 shut down the eastbound lanes of the interstate at about 1am.

Highway patrol tells News 10 that a tractor trailer and 2006 Nissan Sentra collided in the eastbound lanes of I-26. The tractor trailer overturned onto the car near the 131 mile marker.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 54-year-old Edward Haynes, was airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia.

The unidentified 20-year-old driver of the car was killed.

All the lanes of the interstate are back open.  Authorities are investigating.
