Israel flies over Lebanon, but no airstrikes

(Beirut, Lebanon-AP) August 18, 2006 - Israeli jets and drones have taken to the skies over the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, near a Hezbollah stronghold.

Officials in that country say the Israelis didn't launch any airstrikes, contrary to what local media reports were saying. However, there was anti-aircraft fire aimed at driving them off.

The Israeli military isn't saying whether there were any flights. But officials stress Israel hasn't attacked Lebanon since the cease-fire.
