The State Law Enforcement Division says 21-year old Kendrick D. Mitchell was taken into custody after buying the drugs Friday morning.
Mitchell is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, furnishing contraband to prisoners and misconduct in office.
Mitchell works at the Trenton Correctional Institute in Edgefield County.
He was booked at the Aiken County Detention Center.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by SLED and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at the request of the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
