Two Saudi men arrested after boarding Tampa school bus

(Tampa, Florida-AP) May 21, 2006 - Two Saudi men have been arrested for boarding a school bus taking students to a Tampa, Florida, high school.

They're charged with misdemeanor trespassing, but they're being held without bond after a judge said she wanted more background information on them.

Investigators say the two boarded the school bus Friday, sat down and began speaking in Arabic. Their behavior concerned the driver, who alerted the school district.

A sheriff's spokesman says the men gave different answers when they were asked why they boarded the bus.

Authorities say the two men arrived in the country six months ago on student visas. They're enrolled at the English Language Institute at the University of South Florida.

A friend tried to bail them out of jail, but Circuit Judge Monica Sierra decided to detain the pair. She scheduled a Tuesday hearing and asked that an Arabic interpreter be present.
