Fats Domino apologizes for canceling his performance

(New Orleans-AP) May 7, 2006 - Fats Domino showed up at New Orleans' Jazz Fest to apologize for canceling his performance.

Domino was the headline act on the last day of the Jazz and Heritage Festival. His scheduled performance was to be his first since he was rescued from his flooded home in the Ninth Ward after Hurricane Katrina struck last August.

A friend says Domino wasn't feeling well enough to perform. Domino briefly greeted the crowd on the stage where he had been scheduled to play. He apologized for canceling and thanked fans for supporting the festival.

Jazz Fest was held at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course, which was under five feet of water at the height of the flooding.
