Opinions split as Iraq war enters fourth year

(New York-AP) March 20, 2006 - As the Iraq war enters its fourth year, a former top US official there says he thinks the country is encouraging freedom movements in the Middle East.

Former Coalition Provisional Authority spokesman Dan Senor tells NBC it's easy to question the war when the "costs and the burdens are so obvious." While Senor says the benefits of invading Iraq aren't as clear, he insists "It was worth it."

A former State Department counselor in the Clinton administration says "America has turned away" from many top priorities, including countering terrorism. Wendy Sherman tells NBC Americans "have already decided" the war wasn't worth it.
