Three killed when Vietnam War-era bomb explodes

(Hanoi, Vietnam-AP) March 20, 2006 - Three men have been killed by a Vietnam War-era bomb that exploded as they tried to gather it for scrap metal in central Vietnam.

Police say the men, aged 26 to 33, were killed instantly in the incident Sunday in Danang.

Police say the men found the 500-pound bomb at the top of a hill. When they tried to push it down the hill, it exploded, leaving a four-meter-wide crater.

Dozens of people have been killed or maimed by unexploded ordnance since the Vietnam war ended in 1975.
