Interior Ministry: Fox was bound, shot

(Baghdad, Iraq-AP) March 11, 2006 - Iraq's Interior Ministry says kidnapped American Tom Fox's body had gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

Fox was among four Christian peace activists taken hostage last year. His body was found Thursday near a west Baghdad railway line.

A US military official in Baghdad confirms that Fox's remains were picked up by American forces Thursday evening but gives no information on the condition of the body.

An official of Iraq's Interior Ministry says Fox's hands were tied and there were also cuts on his body and bruises on his head.

There's no word on the whereabouts of Fox's fellow hostages.

The previously unknown Swords of Righteousness Brigades claimed responsibility for kidnapping the four workers in November.

Fox's Christian group says his family has asked for privacy. The group says Fox's "death pierces us with pain."
