Coast Guard suspends search for three boaters missing in Virginia

(Portsmouth, Virginia-AP) January 15, 2006 - The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man and his two sons who went missing while fishing on the James River in Virginia after the father's body was found Sunday.

The Coast Guard found the body of Lewis Mclean of Suffolk one mile south of the James River Bridge. 14-year-old Kelton Troup and eight-year-old Desmond Mclean haven't been located.

The Coast Guard began its search late last night when the family didn't return from a fishing trip.

The Coast Guard sent out a search and rescue boat from Portsmouth and a helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to look for them. A dive team from Fort Eustis and members from the Virginia Maritime Resource Police and the Virginia Maritime Resource Commission also aided in the search.

The Coast Guard is turning the search over to the Virginia Maritime Resources Commission.
