Web site lets visitors control decorations

(Winston-Salem, NC-AP) December 21, 2005 - BJ and Ashley Sintay don't mind if you want to rearrange their Christmas lights. In fact, you can do it without even going to their house.

The Sintays have set up a Web site that allows people to decide how the red, white and blue lights decorating their house and yard should look.

BJ Sintay is a doctoral student in biomedical engineering at Wake Forest University, and has degrees in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State. He says he got the idea last year to do some sort of Web-based controller, something that people could manipulate from the Internet.

He says the lights are for his wife because she really likes Christmas.

Viewers on the Web site can sign up to control the lights for one minute, and can configure 24 switches, then watch the lights change from a Webcam placed in a neighbor's garage.

Sintay says the site is averaging up to two million hits a day.
