Flag maker to relocate to Berkeley County

(Charleston - AP) October 22, 2005- A flag manufacturer plans to relocate its distribution center from Pennsylvania to Berkeley County and bring about 70 jobs to the area.

Valley Forge Flag Company should begin operating by mid-December.

The move from Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania, will consolidate the company's manufacturing and distribution operations in South Carolina. The company operates a dyeing and printing shop in Olanta and sewing plants in Smoaks and Lane.

Some of the new local jobs will be filled by people transferring to Pennsylvania.

The private, family-run company makes U.S., state and international flags. It employs about 500 people.
