Family, friends ask for help in search for missing York Co. man

(York) Oct. 20, 2005 - The search for a man who disappeared over the weekend has spread into three counties.

Fifty nine year old David Hudson was last seen Saturday, October 15th at a tackle shop in Lancaster County. He was on his way to see his son who lives in Elgin, but Hudson never made it. And now there's a massive search to find him.

For Ray Talley, the last six days have been unbearable. He hasn't heard from his best friend David Hudson since Saturday, "He was going to come by his son's house then come by my house and he never made it, and that's not David."

Hudson was last seen buying a soda at a tackle shop on Highway 97 near the Lancaster-Kershaw county line.

A massive hunt to find Hudson is on. Twenty deputies, a dozen firefighters, and horse teams from Kershaw county joined friends and family in the search.

Hudson's sister Patricia Hambrick asks, "Please help us find him. Please bring out anything you can, four-wheelers, motorcycles, anything you can. Go into the woods with us and help us find him. We've got to find him."

The Kershaw County sheriff says the search won't be easy. The area off Highway 97 is sparsely populated and full of thick brush and trees. Sheriff McCaskill says, "It'll make us work harder. We just really want to find out what happened to mister Hudson."

Hudson was riding a black and silver 2003 Harley Davidson Anniversary Edition motorcycle with South Carolina tag ZR2442 and was wearing blue jeans and a black leather vest. Headed to Elgin, Hudson may have taken Highway 97 to Highway One, and eventually 34 to his destination, his son's house on Smyrna Church Road.

Searchers will continue retracing Hudson's route. To join the effort, call the Kershaw County sheriff's office.

Ray Talley says, "Everybody loves him. He never had a problem with anybody. He helps everybody. Now he needs help."
