Former NFL player charged with trafficking marijuana

(Walhalla-AP) Aug. 21, 2005 - Former NFL cornerback Derek Ross has been arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana after a police traffic stop.

Police say the 25-year-old Ross, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002, was in a car with another man when officers stopped the rented Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 85 near the South Carolina-Georgia border.

Police say officers smelled and saw marijuana on the console and a search of the vehicle found 25 pounds of marijuana.

Ross, of Rock Hill, played for Atlanta and Minnesota. He was selected in the third round by the Cowboys after he played at Ohio State.
