(Coeur D'Alene, Idaho-AP) July 4, 2005 - The father of a little girl allegedly abducted by a convicted sex offender says reuniting with Shasta Groene was "one of the better moments" of his life.
Steven Groene, choking back tears, tells Fox News he walked through the door and Shasta put out her arms and said "Daddy, Daddy!"
He says the eight-year old is upbeat, and doesn't seem much different than when he last saw her several weeks before her abduction.
Groene says police have told him not to question Shasta about the six weeks she's been missing. He's also dealing with the grim assumption that his nine-year old son may be dead.
The two children lived with their mother, who was found murdered with another brother and a family friend back in May.
Groene also thanked the people who recognized Shasta and notified police, calling them heroes.
