(Columbia) May 31,2005 - Sophomore Dustin Lindsey was charged with DUI in Alabama over the Memorial Day weekend.
Lindsey is a linebacker who lives in Mobile, Alabama. According to police, Lindsey was stopped for speeding early Saturday. The Mobile Register reported Tuesday that Lindsey was released on $1000 bail.
This spring he was recognized as the co-winner of the team's defensive Everyday Effort Award. He is expected to be a key contributor at linebacker in the fall and could challenge for a starting spot . He also registered four tackles in the Garnet and Black Spring Game.
Last season he was a true freshman linebacker who appeared in eight games. He played primarily on special teams and is credited with four tackles. His twin brother Jordin Lindsey also plays for the Gamecocks.
WIS spoke to head coach Steve Spurrier and he says Lindsey will not likely be asked to leave the team.
