Union Public Safety Department officer arrested, charged with crack distribution

(Columbia) Feb. 10, 2005 - A Union police officer was arrested Thursday after State Law Enforcement Division says agents say he distributed crack cocaine and used his position to ask for sexual favors.

SLED says Rodney Curt Johnson, 35, of the Union Public Safety Department is charged with distribution of crack cocaine. Warrants say he presented a substance presented as crack cocaine while in a city-owned vehicle to gain sexual favors in January.

Warrants state Johnson is also charged with three counts of misconduct in office for allegedly using his position and/or Union DPS property in an attempt to gain sexual favors between August and January.

Johnson was booked in the Union County Jail.

The case will be prosecuted by the Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
