Staff changes likely with the arrival of Spurrier to USC

(Columbia) Nov. 19, 2004 - Steve Spurrier's arrival at USC means a lot of new faces are on the way and you can expect Spurrier to make wholesale changes to the current coaching staff.

One assistant who might survive is receivers coach Rick Stockstill. He would neither confirm nor deny any contact with Spurrier when News 10 spoke to him on Friday.

Stock is known as one of the best recruiters in the South. Back in 1997, Noah Brindise was Spurrier's quarterback at Florida. This past season he was East Carolina's offensive coordinator. He will likely join the staff here next season.

Skip Holtz is expected to leave USC after losing his title during the off-season. He's expected to search for another job as an offensive coordinator.

The most likely candidate for defensive coordinator is Jon Hoke. He worked with Spurrier during his final years at Florida. Hoke is currently an assistant with the NFL's Houston Texans.
