McCaughey septuplet to have operation for cerebral palsy-related condition

(National-NBC) Nov. 9, 2004 - One of the McCaughey septuplets is headed from Iowa to Minnesota for surgery this week.

Nathan, the sixth of the seven babies born, has a condition related to cerebral palsy. He will go Saint Paul for a procedure that is supposed to help him walk better.

The process involves surgery and rehabilitation and will take about six weeks.

Nathan and his brothers and sisters turn seven on November 19th.

His sister Alexis also has a condition related to cerebral palsy, but she is not a candidate for the same surgery.

The septuplets live with their parents and older sister in Carlisle, Iowa.
