According to historical precedent, Redskins loss predicts Kerry win

(Tampa-AP) Nov. 1, 2004 - First it was the Boston Red Sox World Series win that had John Kerry grinning, now another sports event has him feeling good.

If you look at sports history, the result of the Washington Redskins' final home game before the presidential election has always accurately predicted the White House winner sinc 1936.

If the Redskins win, the incumbent party wins. If they lose, the incumbent party is ousted.

On Halloween the Redskins played the Packers and lost 28-14.

Kerry was quick to react, releasing a statement that said in part, "I couldn't be more thrilled. The Packers have done their part and this Tuesday, we'll do ours."

Kerry may also be getting a boost from this little bit of psychological mojo: before the Washington Redskins became the Washington Redskins, they were known as the Boston Braves. Kerry, of course, makes his home in Boston.
