OSHA investigating teens death following Myrtle Beach construction site injuries

(North Myrtle Beach-AP) March 16, 2004 - Staff members with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are in North Myrtle Beach investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy at a construction site.

Officials think Gustavo Hilario fell from the second floor of a building last week. Detectives say the boy went home without medical attention. They say the family told them he fell off a bicycle. He later died at a hospital from the head injuries.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says an anonymous phone call to authorities said the boy and his father were working with a subcontractor helping to build condominiums. Officials say the boy and his father had recently moved to the Grand Strand from Mexico.

There have been seven construction-related deaths in Horry County since 2002. Four of the victims were Hispanic.
